Imagine sitting in a room and all of sudden you begin to get a feeling of helplessness. You try to calm yourself down, but you feel your world begin to crash around you. You get sweaty, you feel like your heart is about to beat out of your chest and you begin to tremble and shake. Because it happened so suddenly you are not quite sure what is wrong with you. This may have never happened before or it may have happened numerous times, but are not quite sure what is wrong. These are panic attack symptoms. These are not the only symptoms that you may have.
According to DSM-IV there are 13 different symptoms a person can have when suffering from a panic attack. Other symptoms that a person may have when having a panic attack is pain or tightening in the chest. This can lead to sporadic breathing or shortness of breath. Another symptom that a person can suffer from is nausea or a feeling of intense stomach pains. When accompanied with the shortness of breath or sporadic breathing, plus a feeling of being isolated, this pain is usually a great indication of having a panic attack.
Other panic attack symptoms can range from a feeling of light headed, dizziness or faint. People often times also have a feeling of losing control or going insane. These symptoms are often coupled with cultural surroundings that can add stress to a person. Other panic attack symptoms a person can have that is coupled with the ones listed above is neck soreness, extreme headaches and extreme and uncontrollable screaming and/or crying. These symptoms are have been suggested to be added to DSM-V. These symptoms however are definitely ways to know that a person is suffering from a panic attack.
Panic attack symptoms come on very suddenly. If you suffer from any of the above symptoms it is very important to visit your doctor to see if you do in fact suffer from panic disorder. This is a very serious issue that can be diagnosed and fixed with the proper help. Do not let panic attack symptoms rule your life.
