Another breathing technique to relieve an anxiety attack and slow your heart rate is to simply sit down, inhale through your nose for five seconds, hold your breath for five seconds and exhale through your mouth for five seconds. When you do this, you are concentrating on the seconds that you’re counting and the slowing of the heartbeat and breathing. It takes your mind off of what is making you anxious. While breathing, focus on anything around you that will take your mind off of the attack. This is a good form of panic attack relief no matter where you happen to be.

On a side note, using marijuana for your medicinal purposes is not at all recommended. You will become even more anxious and will have a hard time trying to overcome the feelings. Prozac, Xanax and other mood enhancing medications shouldn’t be taken over long periods of time. You can and most likely will become dependent on them. Natural remedies such as breathing techniques are better for you and you won’t have to worry about having to fill a prescription.
